Beer: Ølfabrikken - Brown Ale

Another brown ale, this one is better than Nørrebro Bryghus.

Beer: Nørrebro Bryghus - King's County Brown

Not really that impressed by this beer, but I'm not that big a fan of brown ales either.

Beer: Mikkeller evening

A friend visited and while playing PS3, talking camera stuff and such, we ended up having quite a few Mikkeller beers which I haven't posted here before:

Mikkeller - All Others Pale is a nice, fruity IPA. Another very nice beer from Mikkeller. Easier to drink than many other Mikkeller beers. Probably a good place to start if you're not that big a fan of the extreme kind of beers that Mikkeller is famous for.

Certainly nice, but it's not as interesting as many of the others from Mikkeller.

Another lovely IPA and as with most other of their beers, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

A Christmas Porter from Mikkeller. Certainly one of the best porters I've had and I wouldn't mind drinking it again even though Porters still isn't my favorite.

We ended the day with a Mikkeller Black Hole - certainly a strong but happy ending :-)

Beer: Ølfabrikken - Porter

Another day, another porter. This is a another really good Porter. I'm still not a big fan of porters, but this is pretty good. As with the Kaffeporter though, I would probably still prefer a good stout.

Beer: Ølfabrikken - Kaffeporter

I have never really liked the porter style of beers, but then again, I wasn't a big fan of stouts a couple of years ago, but that has certainly changed so maybe I'll end up really enjoying porters too. This one might be the start of this, though this being a coffee porter, I had hoped for stronger coffee taste. Still, this is certainly a good beer. Would I buy it again? Maybe, but I would most likely buy a good stout instead.

Beer: Brewpub København - Atlantic IPA

Resonably bitter aftertaste, but I'm not that impressed by this beer, don't think I'll be buying this again. I'll be looking for what else they offer - always looking for interesting beers :)

Beer: Nøgne Ø - #100

This is a very bitter beer, but I'm not sure whether I would buy it again though. I like bitter beers, but I don't particularly like the taste of this one. Still love the Imperial Stout and I have 2 in the fridge :)

Nøgne Ø - Saison

Another nice beer from the good Norwegian brewery. As they say though, I would probably enjoy it more a nice summer day. I did enjoy it today and I'm sure I would enjoy it even more if I find it somewhere sometime this summer.

Beer: Nøgne Ø Imperial Stout

This might be the first be I've tasted from this Norwegian micro brewery and I'm already hating myself for not having bought several more bottles of this beer. This is one of the best imperial stouts I've tasted and I can't remember where I bought it - I'll have to take a tour round to the places where I usually buy my beers to find some more.

Beer: Cantillon Kriek

I've never tasted a Lambic beer before so I was looking forward to it. Sadly, I can't say I like it - far from it. I don't think this really have much to do with beer actually, it's more like champagne or something like that. It's not because it is sweet and fruity that I don't like it and I don't think I'm able to explain what exactly it is that I don't like but I'm certain I'll not be buying this again.

Beer: Ølfabrikken Winter Stout

A nice stout from Ølfabrikken, wouldn't mind drinking that again.

Beer: Struise Mikkeller (Elliot Brew)

Quote: "RateBeer Special Release: Behold the second of RateBeer.com’s Worldwide Masters Series!". A pretty nice beer that I wouldn't mind buying again, though I could imagine it is going to be hard to find again.

Beer: Baggårdsbryggeriet - Drunken Sailor

Baggårdsbryggeriet is a small danish micro brewery. This particular brew is a whiskey ale and it is a bit smokey /from the whiskey). It doesn't particularly impress me and I'm sad to say that it's not a beer I will be buying again.

Beer: Greenland Christmas Ale (2007)

Not a bad Christmas Ale, but I probably would buy something else, depending on what's available.

Beer: Ølfabrikken 100 gram India Pale Ale

I like IPA's and this certainly isn't bad. Would I buy it again though? Hmm...If they also sold one of Mikkellers IPA's (Green Gold or Stateside IPA), I would choose one of those.

Beer: Mikkeller Black Hole 2007

Quote Ratebeer.com: The newest batch of this has been brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium. Also the ABV is actually 14% in spite of the label stating 13.1%.

The answer to my simple question is yes, I would buy this again. It is as most of the other Mikkeller beers I've tasted, extreme...and that is what I like about Mikkeller ;)

Ps. Yes, that is 2 bottles you see there - saving the second one for another day :D

Beer: Nørrebros Julebryg 2007

Tasted this beer last night and I'm sad to say that it is a "no" in regards to my simple rating system (Would I buy this beer again?).

Rating beers

I would like present my very simple rating system which I've concluded it all boils down to for me perosnally after having tasted several hundred different beers in the last few years: Would I buy this beer again?

It can be answered with a simple yes/no and that is enough for me. I like reading reviews at ratebeer.com and such, but I'm a much more simple guy :)

Mikkeller - Beer Geek Breakfast

I have recently discovered the little Danish microbrewery, Mikkeller. The beer I first tried was their Beer Geek Breakfast which is described by themselves this way:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout. The unique mix of oats and coffee gives this beer large body and power, while the coffee, at the same time, creates a nice balance.

I must confess that I haven't had it for breakfast, not yet at least, but it is truly an amazing stout! Highly recommended!

I have also tried their Jackie Brown (brown ale) and Stateside India Pale Ale. Both are great beers, but it is the Beer Geek Breakfast that has me most impressed.
